WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police have apprehended three individuals following the pursuit of a stolen vehicle on November 6. The incident unfolded around 2:20 p.m. when officers from the Uniformed Services Division spotted the vehicle in the vicinity of Dupont Road and Lancaster Pike. Attempts to halt the vehicle were unsuccessful as the driver fled, leading police on a chase.
The vehicle was later found abandoned near East 12th Street and Hay Road. Three male suspects attempted to escape on foot but were swiftly apprehended by officers. Among those detained were 18-year-old Shameiz Johnson and two 17-year-old male juveniles. A loaded 9mm handgun was recovered at the scene.
Authorities have charged Johnson with resisting arrest, alongside an outstanding warrant. He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 11 and is being held at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution under a $10,000 cash-only bail.
One of the 17-year-old juveniles faces charges that include receiving a stolen vehicle, disregarding a police officer’s signal, and conspiracy in the second degree. After arraignment, he was committed to the New Castle County Juvenile Detention Center with bail set at $115,500 cash-only.
The second juvenile has been charged with resisting arrest. He was arraigned and subsequently released on $1,000 unsecured bail.
Officials remind the public that these charges are allegations, and all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
