WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police have arrested a 28-year-old man on multiple drug-related charges following an observation of alleged illegal activity earlier this month.
The incident occurred on January 7, 2024, at approximately 12:34 p.m. Officers from the Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division were patrolling the 100 block of North Dupont Street when they reportedly witnessed a man involved in what appeared to be drug-related activity. Police subsequently made contact with Joe Rodgers, who was taken into custody without incident.
During the arrest, authorities recovered 3.12 grams of heroin, 14 grams of marijuana, and various items of drug paraphernalia, according to officials. Rodgers faces several charges, including possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver in a Tier 2 quantity, possession of a controlled substance in a Tier 2 quantity, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Rodgers was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $6,500 unsecured bail.
Law enforcement emphasizes that all charges are allegations, and Rodgers is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
