WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police are seeking information regarding an attempted kidnapping involving a 10-year-old girl, which occurred on the evening of February 24 in the 2900 block of North Harrison Street.
Authorities report that the incident took place at approximately 6:30 p.m., when a suspect allegedly attempted to abduct the child. The situation was interrupted when the victim’s dog bit the suspect, causing him to flee the scene. Police confirmed that the victim was unharmed during the encounter.
The suspect has been described as a white male, standing approximately 5’5” to 5’9” tall, with a thin build. At the time of the incident, he was reportedly dressed in all black with a face covering. Witnesses last saw him fleeing in the direction of North Van Buren Street.
The Wilmington Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division is actively pursuing leads in the case. Officials are urging residents with information, including any video surveillance from the area, to contact Detective Sergeant Ron Mullin at 302-824-3751. They also encourage the immediate reporting of any suspicious activity to aid in the investigation.
Authorities underline that all allegations remain under active investigation. No suspects have been apprehended, and as with all cases, anyone suspected or accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
