WILMINGTON, DE — Authorities have identified the deceased woman found along the banks of the Christina River as 32-year-old Normaris Colón Valles, a Philadelphia resident who was reported missing in November. This significant development follows weeks of investigation by the Wilmington Police Department.

The discovery was made on March 4 at approximately 5:59 p.m., when officers responded to a report of human remains in the 1100 block of East 7th Street. Upon arrival, police recovered the severely decomposed remains, which were promptly sent to the Delaware Division of Forensic Sciences for further examination.

Preliminary assessments determined that the remains were likely that of a white female between 25 and 35 years old, with investigators suspecting that the body had been in the river since December. While no immediate signs of foul play were detected, the cause of death remains undetermined.

To aid in identifying the victim, Wilmington Police released sketches of two distinctive tattoos found on her body. These images, shared widely with the public, ultimately contributed to confirming her identity as Normaris Colón Valles.

The Criminal Investigations Division of the Wilmington Police Department continues to collaborate closely with the Philadelphia Police Department to uncover the circumstances surrounding Colón Valles’ death. Although many questions remain unanswered, authorities are committed to finding clarity for her family and loved ones.

“Anyone with information about this case is strongly encouraged to contact the Philadelphia Police Northeast Detective Division at 215-686-3153,” the Wilmington Police stated, emphasizing the importance of public assistance in the ongoing investigation.

The investigation remains active, as police pursue leads to determine what led to the tragic loss of Colón Valles’ life.
