WILMINGTON, DE — Authorities have arrested a Wilmington man following an investigation into an alleged gunfire incident at an apartment complex.
On January 26, 2025, at approximately 12:19 a.m., officers from the New Castle County Division of Police responded to reports of gunshots at an apartment complex on the unit block of Cheswold Boulevard. Residents alerted police after hearing a gunshot and the sound of breaking glass. Upon investigation, officers discovered a bullet hole in a ceiling and wall and later located a projectile within the apartment.
Further inquiries led officers to the apartment of 31-year-old Daniel Morrison, where a search warrant was executed. Officials reported finding a recently repaired section of wall, which investigators allege was spackled to conceal bullet damage. Additionally, officers recovered a handgun, a rifle, and an open container of spackle within the residence.
Morrison was taken into custody and charged with multiple offenses, including six felony counts of reckless endangerment in the first degree, one felony count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and one felony count of tampering with physical evidence.
Following his arraignment at Justice of the Peace Court 11, Morrison was committed to the Howard Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $39,000 secured bail.
Officials remind the public that Morrison is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law, and all allegations remain under investigation.
