WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police have arrested a 33-year-old woman in connection with a shots fired incident late Wednesday evening. Officials identified the suspect as Kiara Brooks, who now faces multiple charges stemming from the investigation.
The incident occurred around 11:15 p.m. on March 29 in the 200 block of East 25th Street. Officers were dispatched after reports of gunfire were received. Upon arriving at the scene, police gathered a description of the alleged suspect, as well as details about the vehicle involved. Shortly after, officers located the vehicle in the 2600 block of Moore Street and took Brooks into custody without incident.
Detective Brendan Wham of the Criminal Investigations Division was assigned to the case and, through his work, confirmed Brooks as the suspect in the shooting.
Brooks has been charged with several offenses, including possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, two counts of first-degree reckless endangering, first-degree conspiracy, and resisting arrest. She was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and is being held at the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on $69,000 cash-only bail.
Authorities have reminded the public that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
