NEW CASTLE, DE — The Delaware State Police are investigating an alleged road rage incident on Sunday morning that involved gunfire but resulted in no injuries.
Troopers were dispatched to North Dupont Highway near Fairview Avenue in New Castle at approximately 9:41 a.m. on March 2, 2025, following reports of shots fired. According to investigators, the situation escalated between a BMW SUV and an unidentified sedan during a road rage interaction.
During the altercation, the front passenger of the sedan allegedly discharged a firearm at the driver of the BMW, a 35-year-old Delaware man. Neither the driver nor the vehicle was struck by the gunfire. Following the shooting, the suspect vehicle fled south on North Dupont Highway.
The suspect is described as a masked Black male dressed in dark-colored clothing. At this stage, authorities have not released further details about the suspect or the vehicle involved.
The Delaware State Police Troop 2 Criminal Investigations Unit is actively working to identify and locate the suspect. Detective G. Rash has urged anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has relevant information to come forward by contacting (302) 365-8428. Police emphasize that all allegations remain under investigation, and any suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
