Fatal Shooting in Coatesville: Police Investigate Incident with Multiple Victims

WEST CHESTER, PA — The Coatesville City Police Department, in collaboration with Chester County Detectives, is currently conducting an investigation into a shooting incident that took place on Wednesday evening, announced the Chester County District Attorney’s Office.

According to authorities, on August 23, 2023, at approximately 11:30 p.m., the Coatesville City Police Department received reports of shots fired at Oak and 3rd Streets and at Baxter Street. During the investigation, police found a 20-year-old unconscious male on Lime Street at Madison Avenue with a bullet wound through his chest. He was later pronounced deceased at Paoli Hospital.

A second male victim was also transported to Chester County Hospital. This individual sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg.

Investigators determined that this shooting incident occurred in the 400 block of Community Lane where several fired cartridge casings were located in yards and on the street.

Police are actively investigating this case and do not believe there is a threat to the community at this time.
