Explosive Firearms Bust: Five Arrested in Wilmington Weapons Crackdown

WILMINGTON, DE — A firearms investigation by the Wilmington Police Department on November 8 led to the arrest of five individuals on gun-related charges. The Safe Streets Task Force was dispatched to the 2600 block of Bowers Street at approximately 10:48 a.m. to conduct the operation.

Upon arrival, officers attempted to make contact with a suspect, who fled into a nearby residence. Subsequently, law enforcement detained 19-year-old Quadir Sanders-Smith, 22-year-old Shalier Graham, 20-year-old Michael Waller, 27-year-old Michael Sanders, and a 17-year-old male juvenile, all without incident. The investigation resulted in the recovery of multiple firearms and illegal substances, including a .380 caliber handgun, two 9mm handguns, two .40 caliber handguns, 72.7 grams of marijuana, 1.88 grams of crack cocaine, and .96 grams of heroin.

Sanders-Smith faces charges for possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number. He was released on $5,000 unsecured bail after his arraignment in Justice of the Peace Court 11. Graham is accused of ten counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number. He remains in custody at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $45,000 cash-only bail.

Waller is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver and is held on a $5,000 secured bail. Sanders is alleged to have been in possession of a firearm by a person prohibited and is also at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $5,000 cash-only bail.

The juvenile, charged with ten counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number, is detained at the New Castle County Juvenile Detention Center on $55,000 secured bail.

Authorities emphasize that these charges are allegations, and all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
