KENNETT SQUARE, PA — Hilda Dominguez-Bastida, a 25-year-old former employee of a Kennett Square Borough business, has been arrested on multiple charges related to fraudulent activity. The Kennett Square Police Department announced the arrest took place on November 30, 2023, following the issuance of an arrest warrant on November 17, 2023.
The owner of the business, located in the 300 block of W. State Street, had initially granted some employees permission to write checks for business-related purposes. However, they discovered around September 2022 that approximately $133,000 worth of fraudulent checks had been written by ex-employees. Upon further investigation, it was revealed that this fraudulent activity had been ongoing since April or May of 2021.
Dominguez-Bastida faces serious charges, including one count of dealing in proceeds of unlawful activities, two counts of theft by unlawful taking or disposition, two counts of receiving stolen property, and two counts of theft by deception.
Following her arrest, Dominguez-Bastida’s arraignment was held, and her bail was set at $25,000 unsecured.
