PHOENIXVILLE, PA — In the latest development in the manhunt for escaped convict Danelo Souza Cavalcante, authorities have reported multiple sightings of the fugitive in the northern Chester County area near Phoenixville. Cavalcante has reportedly altered his appearance and is now clean-shaven. He was spotted wearing a yellow or green hooded sweatshirt, a black baseball-style hat, green prison pants, and white shoes.

Pennsylvania State Police and the Chester County Detectives are leading the search for the 34-year-old, who escaped from Chester County Prison on August 31, 2023, around 8:30 a.m.. Cavalcante, originally from Brazil, was serving a life sentence for homicide and is also wanted on similar charges in his home country.

Authorities believe Cavalcante could be operating an unidentified white vehicle. They are urging anyone with information about his whereabouts to immediately contact 911 or the Tip Line at 717-562-2987. Anonymous tips can also be made to the Pennsylvania Crime Stoppers Toll-Free at 1-800-4PA-TIPS (8477) or online at www.p3tips.com/tipform.aspx?ID=107.

The escapee’s brazen prison break involved scaling a wall and climbing over razor wire. Since then, nearly 400 officers have joined the 24-hour search operation for Cavalcante, who managed to evade capture by changing his appearance and possibly moving locations.

As the search for Cavalcante enters its eleventh day, local residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities immediately. The annual Mushroom Festival in Kennett Square went on as planned, despite the ongoing manhunt.

Despite the challenges, authorities remain confident that their combined efforts will lead to Cavalcante’s recapture. They continue to remind the public not to approach the escaped convict, as he is considered dangerous.
