WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police have arrested two men on drug-related charges following an incident earlier this month in the city.
On January 7, 2024, at approximately 2:56 p.m., members of the Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division were in the area of West 8th and North Monroe Streets when they observed two individuals allegedly engaging in drug activity. Authorities detained 34-year-old Hakeem Hunter without incident. However, 24-year-old Shamar Foster reportedly fled on foot. After a brief pursuit, officers apprehended Foster without further issues.
During the arrests, police recovered 17.3 grams of crack cocaine and 0.15 grams of heroin.
Hunter has been charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver. He was arraigned at the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and remanded to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution pending additional proceedings.
Foster faces several charges, including possession of a controlled substance in a Tier 2 quantity, tampering with physical evidence, and resisting arrest. He was also arraigned and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution as he awaits further court action.
It is important to note that all charges are allegations, and both individuals remain presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
