PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Philadelphia Police Department’s Central Detective Division is requesting assistance from the public to identify a suspect involved in an alleged robbery attempt at a deli on JFK Boulevard.
On February 21, 2025, at approximately 4 p.m., an unidentified man entered Kennedy Deli, located at 1901 JFK Blvd, and presented a demand note to the cashier. The note allegedly stated that the suspect had a firearm and demanded cash, warning that there would be “no problem” as he claimed to be a mental health patient. The cashier refused to comply with the demands for money, and when the suspect requested cigarettes instead, the request was also declined. The individual left the store without obtaining any goods or cash, and no weapon was visibly displayed during the incident.
Authorities have described the suspect as a Black male wearing a black Eagles knit hat, a blue 76ers hooded sweatshirt, a black leather jacket, blue jeans, and black sneakers.
The public is advised not to approach the individual if seen but to contact authorities immediately by dialing 911.
Anyone with information about the crime or the identity of the suspect is urged to contact the Central Detective Division at 215-686-3093 or 215-686-3094. Tips can also be submitted anonymously by calling 215-686-TIPS (8477). Officials have assured tipsters that all information will be kept confidential.
Police remind the public that allegations are not convictions and that the suspect is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
