WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a woman whose remains were discovered along the banks of the Christina River earlier this month.
Authorities responded to the 1100 block of East 7th Street on March 4 at approximately 5:59 p.m. after receiving reports of a deceased individual. Upon arrival, officers located decomposed remains that were later turned over to the Delaware Division of Forensic Sciences for further examination.
Investigators determined the remains belong to a white female, believed to be between 25 and 35 years old, who may have been in the river since December. While no immediate indications of foul play were observed, the exact cause of death remains undetermined.
To aid in identification efforts, police have shared images of two tattoos found on the victim’s body and are encouraging anyone with information to come forward.
Detective James Rook of the Wilmington Police Criminal Investigations Division can be contacted at (302) 576-3621 or James.Rook@CJ.State.de.us with any relevant information.
Officials emphasize the importance of public assistance in uncovering this woman’s identity and determining the circumstances surrounding her death.
