PHILADELPHIA, PA — Authorities are requesting help from the public in identifying a suspect linked to an alleged wallet theft and attempted credit card usage in Philadelphia’s Central District. The Philadelphia Police Department’s Central Detective Division released video footage of the individual in question, hoping to gather further information.
The incident reportedly occurred on November 21, 2024, at approximately 12:00 p.m. in the 400 block of North 5th Street. Police state that the complainant’s wallet was stolen, and shortly after, the suspect allegedly tried to use credit cards belonging to the complainant. These transactions were reportedly declined.
The suspect has been described as a Black male in his forties. At the time of the incident, he was seen wearing a dark knit hat, a dark jacket, jeans, and black sneakers.
Authorities have urged the public not to approach the individual if seen but instead to contact 911 immediately. Tips can also be submitted by phone by dialing 215.686.TIPS (8477) or texting tips to the same number. Investigators assure the public that all tips will remain confidential.
