PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Philadelphia Police Department is actively investigating a string of three alleged commercial robberies reportedly perpetrated by the same armed individual over a span of three consecutive days in early October. The incidents took place in West Philadelphia from October 7 through October 9, 2024.

The suspect, described as an older African American male, is accused of entering local convenience stores, brandishing a firearm, and demanding cash before fleeing each scene on foot.

The first incident occurred on October 7 at the Haverford Mini Market located at 5450 Haverford Avenue around 1:30 p.m. The suspect, wearing all black, allegedly threatened an employee with a handgun and made off with cash, last seen heading north on 55th Street towards Westminster Avenue. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The following day, on October 8 at approximately 12:54 p.m., the Eagles Food Market at 4823 Chester Avenue was targeted. The suspect reportedly approached the register, produced a firearm, and demanded money from an employee before escaping in an unknown direction with an undisclosed amount of cash.

On the morning of October 9, at 10:52 a.m., the suspect entered the Vine Deli and Grocery at 262 N. Simpson Street. After purchasing cigars, he allegedly drew his weapon and demanded money. However, in this instance, an employee, assisted by another, managed to disarm the suspect, who then fled on foot towards 65th Street. No injuries were reported, and nothing was stolen during this final incident.

Authorities are urging the public not to approach the suspect if seen, and to immediately contact 911. Tips can be submitted confidentially by calling 215.686.TIPS (8477) or texting the same number.
