Chilling Discovery in Newark Backyard: Human Bones Unearthed, Investigation Intensifies

NEWARK, DE — An investigation has been launched by the New Castle County Division of Police after human bones were discovered in the backyard of a Red Mill Farms residence on Sunday afternoon.

According to authorities, the remains were found around 4:30 p.m. on March 2, 2025, in the rear yard of a home located on the unit block of Cordele Road. Officers who responded to the scene determined that the bones appeared to be human. Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Unit were subsequently called to oversee the case.

Efforts to identify the remains are ongoing. Anthropologists are collaborating with the Medical Examiner’s office to assist in determining the identity of the individual. Meanwhile, detectives have been meticulously searching the surrounding area for additional remains in an effort to gather more evidence.

The New Castle County Public Works Department has also joined the operation, providing assistance by clearing dense terrain and employing sewer cameras to support the search.

Authorities have yet to confirm the identity of the individual or provide further details about the case, citing an ongoing investigation.
