WEST CHESTER, PA — A 20-year-old man from Chester County was apprehended Thursday by the Sheriff’s Office following his failure to appear for trial on serious allegations, including aggravated assault of an unborn child.
Wendell Cortlessa was taken into custody by the Chester County Sheriff’s Fugitive Apprehension Unit (FAU) and the K-9 Unit at a residence located on the 200 block of Cupola Road in Honey Brook Township. Authorities confirmed that Cortlessa had an active bench warrant for his arrest stemming from these charges, which include a first-degree felony.
Chester County Sheriff Kevin Dykes commended the professionalism of his team involved in the operation. “I’m proud of our team for their work in making this arrest safely and professionally. It reflects our ongoing commitment to public safety and our determination to bring dangerous individuals to justice,” he stated.
The Sheriff’s Office reminds all members of the public that individuals accused of crimes are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
