STANTON, DE — A Wilmington resident, 28-year-old Jamira Loper, has been charged with multiple felonies following an alleged assault involving chemical spray at a grocery store parking lot.

The incident occurred on the afternoon of January 18, 2025, in the parking lot of ShopRite, located at 1600 West Newport Pike. According to Delaware State Police, Loper is accused of spraying mace at five individuals, including a teenager and a child, from a moving vehicle. Authorities allege she fled the scene immediately afterward.

Two adult victims and the teenage victim were transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries sustained to their face and neck areas. The two remaining victims, an adult and a child, were treated at the scene by emergency medical services.

Following the incident, investigators identified Loper as the suspect and obtained a warrant for her arrest. After multiple attempts to locate her, Loper voluntarily turned herself in to Troop 2 on January 20, 2025.

Loper faces several charges, including five counts of second-degree assault, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, and one count of criminal mischief. She was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on a $27,500 unsecured bond.

Authorities remind the public that the charges are allegations, and Loper is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Further updates may be provided as new information emerges.
