WEST GROVE, PA — The Pennsylvania State Police from the Avondale Station are currently investigating a theft that occurred at Avon Grove High School in Penn Township, Chester County. The incident took place on October 27, 2023, around 2:00 pm.

According to the police report, unidentified male suspects were captured on surveillance footage stealing a catalytic converter from an unoccupied Honda CRV parked on the school premises. The thieves then fled the scene in a red Chevrolet Cobalt, a model dating between 2005 and 2010, displaying an unknown Delaware registration.

This theft comes amidst a series of similar incidents reported in the region. Catalytic converter thefts have been on the rise due to the valuable metals they contain. These crimes usually occur in broad daylight and take only a few minutes to execute, making them hard to prevent.

The Pennsylvania State Police are appealing to the public for assistance in identifying the suspects involved in this theft.
