WILMINGTON, DEWilmington Police have successfully apprehended 30-year-old Eric Brown in connection with a shooting incident that occurred last month. This development follows an extensive investigation led by Detective Brendan Shea of the Criminal Investigations Division.

The incident in question transpired on September 6, 2024, at approximately 9:04 a.m., when officers from the Uniformed Services Division responded to reports of gunfire in the 100 block of North Dupont Street. Upon arrival, law enforcement officials discovered a 37-year-old male suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was subsequently transported to a local hospital where he was reported to be in stable condition.

Detective Shea’s meticulous investigation identified Eric Brown as a suspect in the case, prompting the issuance of arrest warrants. Brown was eventually located and detained in Alabama without incident. On October 17, he was extradited to Delaware to face the charges against him.

Brown now faces several serious allegations, including assault in the first degree, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, and criminal mischief under $1,000. Following his arrest, Brown was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 20. He has been committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution, with bail set at $140,000, which is cash-only.

As with all legal proceedings, it is crucial to remember that an arrest or criminal charge does not imply guilt. Eric Brown, like all individuals accused of a crime, is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to gather and assess evidence related to the case.
