PHILADELPHIA, PA — Authorities are seeking public assistance in identifying two individuals believed to be connected to a theft that occurred last month at a building in Center City.

On November 14, 2024, at approximately 1:25 p.m., two male suspects allegedly stole a wallet from a victim inside an elevator at 1101 Chestnut Street. According to investigators, the suspects distracted the victim as he was exiting the elevator, at which point the wallet was reportedly taken. Credit cards from the stolen wallet were later used.

Police believe the same suspects may be responsible for several other thefts in the 9th District that occurred prior to this incident.

The Philadelphia Police Department has described the two suspects as follows:

  • Suspect #1 is reported to be a Black male in his 50s, wearing glasses, a white knit hat, a gray sweatshirt, and black-and-white sneakers.
  • Suspect #2 is described as a Black male in his 50s, also wearing glasses, along with a tan hat, a red or orange puffy jacket, gray pants, and white sneakers.

The Central Detective Division has released video clips of the suspects and is encouraging anyone with information to come forward. Authorities have asked the public to avoid approaching the individuals if seen and to instead contact 911 immediately.

Those with information about the suspects are urged to call the department’s tip lines at 215-686-TIPS (8477) or text information to the same number. Tips will remain confidential. Citizens may also contact the Central Detective Division directly at 215-686-3047 or 215-686-3048 and reference ID#: DC#24-09-108129.

Officials emphasize that new details may emerge as the investigation proceeds and that an arrest or complaint does not constitute proof of guilt. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
