PHILADELPHIA, PA — Law enforcement authorities in Philadelphia are appealing to the public for assistance in identifying two individuals linked to an alleged attempted break-in at the Mikveh Israel Congregation Synagogue. The incident, which occurred on October 22, 2024, at about 6:30 a.m., involved an unsuccessful attempt to enter the religious facility located at 44 North 4th Street.
According to the Central Detective Division, the suspects caused damage to a fence and a door in their attempt to gain access, though ultimately, entry was not achieved. The first suspect is described as a white male, seen with glasses around his neck, wearing a dark hat, white t-shirt, tan pants, dark shoes, and carrying a backpack. The second suspect is identified as a white male dressed in dark clothing and riding a small scooter.
The police have stressed the importance of public vigilance and have advised against approaching the suspects if spotted. Instead, individuals are urged to contact 911 immediately. Those with information are encouraged to provide tips by calling 215.686.TIPS (8477) or texting the same number. All tips will be handled confidentially to protect the identity of the informant.
