PHILADELPHIA, PA — Authorities in Philadelphia are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying an individual captured on video in connection with an alleged arson incident. The Philadelphia Police Department‘s Central Detective Division has released footage showing a suspect who reportedly set fire to a dumpster next to the Mikveh Israel Congregation Synagogue, located at 44 North 4th Street.

The incident occurred on October 22, 2024, at approximately 2:00 a.m. The fire resulted in damage to a nearby window of the synagogue. According to the description provided by the police, the suspect is a white male of thin build with facial hair. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a blue hat, gray sweatshirt, blue jeans, gray sneakers, and carrying a backpack.

The police have emphasized the importance of not approaching the suspect if seen, and have advised the public to contact 911 immediately. Those with information regarding the suspect or the incident are encouraged to submit tips by calling 215-686-TIPS (8477) or texting the same number. The authorities assure that all tips will be treated with confidentiality.

Detective Goldstein of the Central Detective Division is leading the investigation under Case ID# DC 24-09-096705.
