HARRISBURG, PA — Attorney General Michelle Henry announced the conviction this week of Richard Lenhart, a former State College psychologist, for the rape and sexual assault of a young girl over several years. Lenhart, 63, was found guilty of a series of heinous charges, including rape, statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, and endangering the welfare of children.
The jury heard harrowing testimony from the victim about the abuse she suffered from 2005 to 2013. She revealed that the assaults began when she was only eight years old, with Lenhart exploiting his position of trust. The abuse reportedly took place in various locations in State College.
Attorney General Henry praised the victim’s courage in confronting her abuser and the jury’s decision to hold Lenhart accountable. “This victim relied on the defendant to be a source of support and healing, and instead he abused his authority in order to sexually assault her for years,” she stated.
Lenhart’s conviction follows prior charges related to sexual misconduct with patients at his practice and insurance fraud. He is scheduled for sentencing on November 19. This case was prosecuted by Senior Deputy Attorneys General Michael T. Madeira and Megan McGoron.
