OXFORD, PA — The Oxford Borough Police Department announced the arrest of a 38-year-old man in connection to a carjacking incident.
Warren Hatfield has been charged with Robbery of a Motor Vehicle, Attempted Robbery of a Motor Vehicle, Simple Assault, and numerous related offenses.
The criminal complaint alleges that on July 29, 2023, at 7:18 pm the Oxford Borough Police were dispatched to the area of 700 Conowingo Circle in the Oxhaven Apartments for a report of a disturbance and an attempted theft of a motor vehicle. Officers arrived on location to a large group of residents who pointed them in the direction of the alleged perpetrator, identified as 38-year-old Warren Hatfield of Oxford, who was immediately detained.
After interviewing a victim and multiple witnesses, it was determined that Hatfield had opened the passenger door of the victim’s vehicle and instructed her to drive away. The victim refused and exited her vehicle as Hatfield attempted to gain access to the driver’s seat. Hatfield attempted to drive away but was unsuccessful in operating the manual transmission. Hatfield then exited the vehicle and attempted to enter another passing vehicle through the driver’s window but was unsuccessful as the driver pushed him away. Residents were able to keep Hatfield on location until Police arrived.
Hatfield was transported to the Oxford Borough Police Department where he was processed and turned over to Constables for transport to Chester County Prison.  Hatfield was video arraigned and held on a $20,000 cash bail. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for August 8, 2023, at the Oxford District Court.
The Oxford Borough Police Department also announced they are seeking to interview the second victim who fought off Hatfield but has been unable to identify them or the black sedan they were operating. Anyone who may know the identity of this victim, or anyone who lives in the Oxhaven Apartments that may have surveillance of the parking lots is asked to contact the Oxford Borough Police Department at 610-268-3171 or submit your tip online here.
