WILMINGTON, DE — The Delaware State Police have announced the arrest of two individuals in connection with a Wednesday afternoon shooting that left a 19-year-old Wilmington man in critical condition.

The incident occurred on February 19, 2025, at approximately 4:29 p.m., when soldiers responded to reports of a shooting near East Lea Boulevard and North Market Street. Upon arrival, authorities found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency medical personnel transported him to a nearby hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

According to an initial investigation, the victim was on his way to a residence on East Lea Boulevard when an unidentified suspect approached and shot him. The suspect fled on foot to the rear of a parking lot, where the Hyundai reportedly picked him up before leaving the scene.

The day after the incident, February 20, Wilmington police stopped the described vehicle and detained the two individuals inside. The occupants, identified as 18-year-old Darmond Green of Wilmington and 20-year-old Taa Box of Townsend, were taken into custody and turned over to the Delaware State Police.

Investigators allege that Green was the shooter in the incident, while Box is accused of assisting him in disposing of evidence afterward. Both individuals have been charged with multiple offenses.

Green faces charges including attempted first-degree murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and tampering with physical evidence. He was arraigned and held at Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $1,085,000 cash bond. Box, charged with tampering with evidence, hindering prosecution, and related offenses, was released on an unsecured bond.
