WILMINGTON, DE — Authorities in Wilmington have arrested a man in connection with a fatal shooting incident that occurred in July 2023. The Wilmington Police Department announced the arrest following an extensive investigation.

On the night of July 4, 2023, at approximately 11:49 p.m., officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 700 block of East 10th Street. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered multiple victims: a 20-year-old male who had succumbed to his injuries, a 33-year-old male in critical condition, and an 18-year-old female who was transported to the hospital in stable condition. The deceased was later identified as Jehovah Clark.

The case was assigned to Detective Kevin Nolan of the Criminal Investigations Division. During the investigation, Detective Nolan determined that the 33-year-old male gunshot victim, identified as 34-year-old Khiry Brown, was allegedly involved in Clark’s death. After gathering evidence, Nolan presented the case to the New Castle County Grand Jury on December 2, which returned an indictment against Brown.

On December 4, Brown was taken into custody without incident. He now faces multiple charges, including first-degree murder, three counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, second-degree assault, reckless endangering in the first degree, and possession of a firearm by a person prohibited. Following his arraignment in Justice of the Peace Court 11, Brown was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $1,006,000 cash-only bail.

An arrest, criminal complaint, or allegation does not equate to guilt. Every suspect, arrestee, or defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
