Altercation at West Chester Business Leads to Arrest

WEST CHESTER, PA — The West Chester Police Department has announced the arrest o a 54-year-old man on assault charges.

Joseph Curran has been charged with Simple Assault, Defiant Trespass, and Disorderly Conduct.

The criminal complaint alleges that on August 17, 2023, at approximately 7:44 PM, officers responded to a business in the 50 Block of W. Gay St. for the report of a fight. Upon arrival, officers made contact with an employee who advised that they were just assaulted. The suspect, identified as 54-year-old Joseph Curran of West Chester, reportedly punched the employee after refusing to leave the business. Curran was taken into custody without incident.

Curran was processed and transported to Chester County Prison for arraignment. A preliminary hearing is pending at District Court 15-1-01.
