WILMINGTON, DE — A 14-year-old male juvenile has been taken into custody in connection with a shots fired incident that occurred last month in Wilmington.

The incident was reported on February 14, 2025, at approximately 4:57 p.m., when Wilmington Police responded to the 700 block of East 22nd Street for reports of gunfire. No injuries were reported. The case was assigned to the Gun Intelligence Unit, and investigators identified the 14-year-old as a suspect during their inquiry.

On February 25, members of the Safe Streets Task Force apprehended the juvenile without incident. Police reportedly recovered a loaded 9mm handgun, which had been previously reported as stolen. On March 7, the juvenile was formally charged with multiple offenses, including possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited, and first-degree reckless endangering.

The juvenile was arraigned in New Castle County Family Court and remains detained at the New Castle County Detention Center on $43,000 cash-only bail.

Officials emphasize that all charges are allegations, and the juvenile is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
