PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Archdiocese of Philadelphia has unveiled a groundbreaking initiative, the Peace in the Storm Project, aimed at providing spiritual and pastoral support to adults battling chronic pain and illness. This innovative ministry, a collaboration between the Office for Life and Family and the Office for Persons with Disabilities, seeks to offer solace and strength to those navigating the challenges of long-term health conditions.
With a foundation rooted in scripture, fellowship, the rich traditions of the Church, and the empowering grace of the Sacraments, the Peace in the Storm Project is both uplifting and theologically robust. Designed for straightforward adoption by parishes and healthcare organizations of any size, the program is versatile enough to cater to adults suffering from a broad spectrum of chronic conditions, including but not limited to cancer, autoimmune diseases, diabetes, and heart disease.
To kickstart this compassionate ministry, the Archdiocese is hosting an introductory webinar led by Maureen Pratt, MTS, MFA. Pratt, an acclaimed author, speaker, and the Founder and Executive Director of the Peace in the Storm Project, brings a wealth of experience and insight to the program. The webinar, scheduled for Thursday, April 11, 2024, will be offered at two convenient times: 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., via Zoom.
This session promises to be an invaluable resource for individuals seeking guidance and support in their journey with chronic pain and illness, as well as for parish leaders and healthcare providers looking to implement the program within their communities.
Registration for the webinar is now open. Those interested in attending the 2:00 p.m. session can sign up online, as can those wishing to participate in the 7:00 p.m. webinar.
The Peace in the Storm Project represents a significant step forward in the Archdiocese’s commitment to nurturing the spiritual well-being of all its members, particularly those facing the daily trials of chronic health issues. Through this ministry, the Archdiocese of Philadelphia aims to assure individuals that they are not alone in their struggles, offering hope and peace amidst the storms of life.
