WEST CHESTER, PA — Families across Chester County are invited to join the YMCA of Greater Brandywine (YGBW) for Healthy Kids Day®, a free, family-friendly event aimed at promoting healthier lifestyles for children and their families. The event will take place from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 26, at eight YMCA locations throughout Chester County.
Healthy Kids Day® is part of a nationwide YMCA initiative designed to help families kick-start summer with activities that promote physical and mental well-being. Sponsored nationally by Peanuts, the event will include local vendors, crafts, inflatables, and other interactive activities.
“It is important for kids to stay active over the summer to ensure good health – both physically and mentally,” said Terri Edgar, Chief Branch Operations Officer of YGBW. “YGBW is committed to ensuring that all families have the knowledge and resources needed to create healthy habits during the summer – and throughout the year.”
For families interested in summer programming, YGBW offers a variety of camps designed for children aged 3 to 15, including adaptive and specialty camps focused on sports, arts, STEM, and more. Teen Camps and Camp Bumblebee provide tailored options for older youth and children with developmental disabilities, ensuring programs meet a wide range of needs.
Attending Healthy Kids Day® comes with added perks, as exclusive discounts on YMCA memberships and summer camps will be available during the event. These offers will be valid in person only on April 26 at participating YGBW locations.
With summer just around the corner, the YMCA of Greater Brandywine is encouraging families to explore opportunities for staying active and engaged. “We hope all families will join us on Saturday to learn more about healthy habits and to take advantage of all the great summer activities the Y has to offer,” added Edgar.
The event is expected to bring the community together for fun and learning, providing a platform for planning a safe and health-filled summer. Families can visit their nearest YMCA branch to participate and take the first steps toward making summer 2025 both productive and enjoyable.
