Chester County Police Officers Gear Up for Annual Blue Beards for Charity Event

Blue Beards for Charity

CHESTER COUNTY, PA — As the leaves turn from green to gold and the days grow shorter, it’s not just the signs of fall that are in the air. It’s also the time for a yearly tradition that is close to the hearts of many in Chester County – the “beard growing season” and Breast Cancer Awareness. The initiative, known as Blue Beards for Charity, is ready to launch its annual charity event.

Blue Beards for Charity is an endeavor led by the dedicated police officers of Chester County. Founded on the principle of giving back to the community they serve and protect daily, this initiative has grown into a significant local event. Participating officers make a charitable donation and receive permission to grow facial hair throughout October, November, and December, marking their commitment to the cause.

This year, Blue Beards for Charity plans to support four charities: Unite for Her, The Sambuco Children’s Education Fund, A Child’s Light, and the Chester County Crime Victims Center. The goal for this year is not only to build on last year’s momentum but also to increase participation and donations from more officers within Chester County.

For community members, businesses, and organizations interested in supporting this cause, donations can be made by writing a check(s) to “Blue Beards for Charity” and dropping it off at your local participating police department by October 20th.

Officers wishing to participate in this year’s charity can do so by writing a minimum check of one hundred dollars ($100.00) to “Blue Beards for Charity”. Male officers can show their support by growing a beard, while female officers can participate by wearing a pink police badge from October 1st to December 31st.

In 2022, the charitable contributions of Chester County brought in over $60,000 for charity. With more participants expected this year, 2023 promises to be even more successful. All money raised will be sent to Blue Beards for Charity and distributed at a publicized event at the end of November. Every department that participates will be invited to attend this event.

With the combined efforts of the police department and the community, Blue Beards for Charity continues to demonstrate the power of unity and shared commitment to supporting local charities. The changing colors of autumn and the growing beards of our officers serve as a reminder of the spirit of giving that defines our community.
