EXTON, PA — The Whitford Charitable Classic, a fund of the Chester County Community Foundation, has announced the recent distribution of $76,000 in grants to support 19 local nonprofit organizations. Each recipient received a $4,000 grant to bolster their initiatives, making a positive impact across the Chester County community.
The 2024 Whitford Charitable Classic took place from September 19-21 and featured a vibrant weekend of activities, including golf, tennis, and pickleball tournaments, as well as the highly anticipated Whitford Gala and Auction. The event celebrated camaraderie among members, grantees, and supporters while underscoring Whitford Country Club’s enduring commitment to philanthropy.
“This was my third and final year as event chair, and I’m deeply thankful to everyone who participated, donated, and helped bring it all together,” said Kelly Hagelauer, Chair of the Whitford Charitable Classic. She also announced that Taylor Young and Bill Penney would assume the roles of event chairs moving forward.
A standout moment during the event was a donation by Whitford Fund Founder Bruce Hockman, who provided a golf foursome experience to first responders from the West Goshen Police and Thorndale Fire Company. “Bruce’s thoughtful contribution truly reflects the spirit of community that defines this event,” Hagelauer noted.
Since its launch in 2011, the Whitford Charitable Classic has raised over $1.4 million, benefitting more than 75 nonprofit organizations. This year’s grantees included groups such as A Child’s Light, The Fund for Women and Girls, Community Warehouse Project of Chester County, and West Chester Food Cupboard.
The Whitford Charitable Classic continues to exemplify its mission of fostering meaningful change through philanthropy, significantly enriching the Chester County community. To support the Whitford Classic and learn more about the Whitford Charitable Fund, visit www.whitfordcc.com/charitable-fund.
