ROYERSFORD, PA — State Sen. Katie Muth (D-Chester/Montgomery/Berks) and state Representatives Danielle Friel Otten, Paul Friel, Melissa Shusterman, and Dan Williams, all Democrats from Chester, announced this week that Senate District 44 has been granted over $5 million in funding for water, sewer, and wastewater projects.

The funding was approved in a recent meeting of the Commonwealth Financing Authority and is facilitated by the Department of Community and Economic Development. The grants come from the COVID-19 ARPA H2O PA program and the COVID-19 ARPA PA Small Water & Sewer Program.

“Infrastructure investments are so crucial to our communities, our environment, and public health,” Muth said. “This $5 million investment across Senate District 44 will significantly help communities upgrade their water, sewer, and stormwater systems.”

Several Chester County projects received funding through the H2O PA program, which had $205.4 million of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds appropriated to it under Act 54 of 2022. Upper Uwchlan Township Municipal Authority was granted $1.03 million for the Milford Farms Sanitary Sewer Extension Project, while the Municipal Authority of the Borough of Elverson received $1 million for sewage treatment plant upgrades. Valley Forge Sewer Authority was allocated $300,000 for various improvements, and Upper Uwchlan Township Municipal Authority received $259,089 for wastewater treatment plant conversion.

Act 54 of 2022 also allocated $105.6 million of ARPA funds to the Pennsylvania Small Water and Sewer program. The program assists with construction, improvement, expansion, rehabilitation, or repair of water supply systems, sanitary sewer systems, and stormwater systems. Several projects across Chester, Montgomery, and Berks counties received funding through this program.
