ROYERSFORD, PA — State Senator Katie Muth (D-Chester/Montgomery/Berks) announced this week that entities across Senate District 44 will receive more than $150,000 in grants. The funds are part of the COVID-19 ARPA PA Arts and Culture Recovery Program (PACR), which aims to bolster the arts and culture sector heavily affected by the pandemic.
The local funding is part of a larger $15 million PACR grant approved in a recent Commonwealth Financing Authority meeting. The grant aims to aid the recovery of the arts and culture sector, which has historically struggled with maintaining funding and has been further strained due to the impact of the pandemic.
“The programs and museums that received funding through the PACR program add so much to our communities,” Muth said. “I am grateful that we are using federal ARPA funding to support their programming and their operations.”
Among the beneficiaries in Senate District 44 are the People’s Light and Theatre Company in East Whiteland Township, Chester County, which received $95,000, and Historic Yellow Springs in West Pikeland Township, Chester County, which was granted $30,942.
The National Audubon Society in Lower Providence Township, Montgomery County, will benefit from a $29,739 grant, while Barnstone Art for Kids in Phoenixville Borough, Chester County, has been awarded $10,650.
The PACR program was established to provide grants to nonprofit arts and culture organizations, local arts and culture districts, and arts and culture professionals in the Commonwealth. It aims to ensure the stability and recovery of the sector from the COVID-19 pandemic and allows for a maximum grant award of up to 25% of the operating budget for the most recently completed fiscal year.
This funding aims to revitalize the arts and culture sector in Pennsylvania, ensuring that these vital organizations can continue to enrich local communities.
