Roadway Construction Continues in Newtown Township: Major Disruptions Expected on Route 3

Travel Restrictions

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The ongoing roadway construction on Route 3 (West Chester Pike) is set to continue next week as part of a local safety improvement project in Newtown Township, Delaware County. Residents and motorists are advised to prepare for potential disruptions.

Starting Monday, November 20, through Wednesday, November 22, a lane closure has been scheduled from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Route 3. This will affect both directions of travel between Boot Road and Bryn Mawr Avenue.

This upgrade is a significant step in the overall improvement of the local infrastructure in Delaware County. The current work on Route 3 is just one part of the broader Newtown Township Road Program, which encompasses road resurfacing and reconstruction, as well as stormwater inlet projects.

Motorists are being advised to allow additional time for their journeys due to anticipated backups and delays. Traffic disruptions are expected to be significant during peak hours. The local authorities say they are working diligently to ensure that the impact on residents and commuters is minimized, and that the work is completed as quickly and efficiently as possible.
