HARRISBURG, PA — State Representative Dan Williams, D-Chester, has announced the allocation of more than $270,000 in state funding to support fire companies and emergency medical service (EMS) organizations across the 74th Legislative District. The funding, issued through the state Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program, aims to bolster lifesaving efforts in Chester County by addressing critical operational needs.
“These grants are essential to ensuring that our first responders have the necessary resources to protect our communities,” said Rep. Williams. “Whether it’s purchasing new equipment, upgrading facilities, or enhancing training programs, this investment plays a vital role in strengthening emergency response capabilities. I am proud to support this initiative and will continue advocating for investments that help keep our communities safe.”
The grants provide financial support to volunteer and career fire companies, EMS agencies, and rescue squads, enabling essential improvements and operational sustainability. Eligible uses for the funding include equipment purchases, facility upgrades, training programs, debt reduction, and efforts to recruit and retain personnel.

- Honey Brook Fire Co. No. 1 – $16,322.02
- Keystone Valley Fire Department – $64,106.84
- Keystone Valley Fire Department – $45,000.00
- Modena Fire Co. No. 1 – $16,322.02
- Modena Fire Co. No. 1 – $15,000.00
- Sadsburyville Fire Co. – $16,322.02
- Thorndale Fire Co. – $15,030.95
- Wagontown Volunteer Fire Co. – $16,322.02
- Washington Hose Co. No. 1 – $15,000.00
- Westwood Fire Co. – $16,322.02
- Westwood Fire Co. – $15,000.00
- Westwood Fire Company Ambulance Wagontown Division – $15,000.00
The Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program was established to support Pennsylvania’s first responders in their mission to save lives and serve their communities. The initiative acknowledges the continuous commitment of fire and EMS personnel, many of whom risk their lives to ensure public safety in both urban and rural areas.
Rep. Williams highlighted that the funding acknowledges the hard work and sacrifices of fire and EMS teams and ensures they have the necessary equipment to respond effectively during emergencies.
