WEST CONSHOHOCKEN, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced the continuation of nighttime construction activities on Interstate 476 and its surrounding infrastructure in both Delaware and Montgomery counties. These efforts, aimed at enhancing travel safety and efficiency, are set to bring significant changes in traffic patterns as lane closures are implemented.
On Sunday, November 10, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, eastbound MacDade Boulevard in Ridley Township, Delaware County, will experience a lane closure between Bullens Lane and School Lane to facilitate the removal of barriers. This is part of a $16.2 million initiative focused on improving travel and safety on MacDade Boulevard and at the northbound I-476 and MacDade Boulevard Interchange.
From Monday, November 11, through Friday, November 15, night-time commuters on I-476 will face lane closures in both directions between the I-76 and I-95 interchanges. These closures, scheduled from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM nightly, are necessary for paving, bridge repair, and guiderail installation. A concurrent project, valued at $63.7 million, aims to resurface, repair, and enhance approximately 17 miles of the interstate spanning from I-76 in West Conshohocken, Montgomery County, to I-95 in Ridley Township, Delaware County.
Additionally, during the same period, lane closures will affect eastbound and westbound traffic on I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) between Matsonford Road and I-476 in West Conshohocken Borough. This is to accommodate essential bridge repairs.
Motorists are advised to anticipate potential delays and allow extra travel time when navigating these areas, as significant backups may occur. All construction activities are subject to weather conditions, and drivers are encouraged to monitor real-time updates through the MyChesCo Traffic Center, which offers comprehensive traffic delay warnings and speed information.
