KING OF PRUSSIA, PA — Wyoming is set to implement a suite of tools that will aid students on their academic journey. The state’s collaboration with Pennsylvania-based edtech firm, AcademyOne, marks a critical step in its strategic plan to improve student experience and success.

Following the successful launch of the ArticulatED™ transfer portal, WyoTransfer.org, Wyoming is now adopting AcademyOne’s AssessED™ credit for prior learning portal and software, AwardED™ automated reverse transfer system, and AdvisED™ digital articulation agreement library and transfer pathway checklist software. These tools are designed to decrease both the cost of attendance and the time it takes to graduate, according to Hank Bowman, Chief Growth Officer at AcademyOne.

AcademyOne’s products are devised to bridge the divide between college and university, fostering a higher education community that promotes access, retention, and success. This partnership aligns with Wyoming’s ambitious goal to ensure that 60% of its adult population holds an industry-recognized postsecondary credential by 2025, and 75% by 2040.

Dr. Ben Moritz, Executive Director for the Wyoming Community College Commission, believes that AcademyOne’s solutions will enable a more holistic approach to recognizing students’ prior learning. “Whether they are traditional transfer students with college courses under their belt or returning adults with experiential learning, our students will be credited for what they have previously earned,” he said.

This initiative is important for several reasons. Firstly, it represents a progressive move towards acknowledging and crediting prior learning, which can incentivize more adults to return to education. By recognizing experiential learning and previous college courses, Wyoming is making postsecondary education more accessible and achievable.

Secondly, by reducing the time and cost of graduation, Wyoming is addressing two significant barriers to postsecondary education. This move could potentially lead to higher enrollment and graduation rates, contributing to the state’s ambitious credential attainment goals.

Lastly, this partnership signifies the increasing role of edtech in shaping postsecondary education. Companies like AcademyOne are at the forefront of developing solutions that can streamline the academic journey for students, promoting equity in access and success.

Wyoming’s partnership with AcademyOne represents a strategic move that could significantly enhance the postsecondary education landscape in the state. By adopting innovative tools that acknowledge prior learning and facilitate seamless transfers, Wyoming is taking a big leap toward achieving its education goals and setting a precedent for other states to follow.
