WILMINGTON, DE — Minds Matter of Philadelphia, a nonprofit organization committed to promoting higher education, has received a $10,000 grant from the WSFS CARES Foundation. The foundation is the charitable giving arm of WSFS Bank, which continues its series of philanthropic activities.
Since its formation in 2011, Minds Matter of Philadelphia has served 150 students across 14 national chapters. The organization focuses on equipping high school students with essential skills and resources for academic success.
The grant will support two crucial initiatives: the ACT Prep and College Summer programs. The ACT Prep Program provides students with test-taking tips, practice exams, and weekly homework assignments to reinforce learning. In contrast, the College Summer Program assists students in determining their college preferences and potential majors. It aims to boost students’ confidence, independence, ambition, and motivation.
Patrick J. Ward, Executive Vice President, Pennsylvania Market President at WSFS Bank and Chairman of the WSFS CARES Foundation, expressed his enthusiasm about the collaboration. “Education and leadership development is just one of the core pillars of the WSFS CARES Foundation. We support great programs like Minds Matter of Philadelphia to help prepare members of our communities for success,” he said.
Jordan Koslosky, President of Minds Matter of Philadelphia, appreciated the generous grant from the WSFS CARES Foundation. “This grant will be used to help fund College Summer Program tuition and a full school year of ACT prep for our students. These are opportunities that our students wouldn’t have exposure to without our program and WSFS’ support. We look forward to maintaining a strong relationship with WSFS in the future!” he stated.
As local students prepare for their academic journeys, this grant signifies an important step towards achieving their goals. The collaboration between WSFS CARES Foundation and Minds Matter of Philadelphia promises to create a positive impact in the community.
