WILMINGTON, DE — The WSFS CARES Foundation, the charitable arm of WSFS Bank, has announced several grants to organizations focused on education, youth development, and community support. These contributions, totaling significant funding, aim to make a lasting impact on the communities they serve.
Among the beneficiaries is the Community Education Building (CEB), which received a $285,000 grant payable over three years. This funding will support the Youth Development Center, an initiative providing extended learning programs, early childhood education, and career pathways for youth and adults to address workforce needs in Delaware. Linda Jennings, CEO of CEB, highlighted how this partnership empowers students and families to succeed while enhancing educational and career opportunities.
Reach Riverside Development Corporation was awarded a $150,000 grant, also spread over three years, to support the launch of its CORE Program. This holistic initiative offers cradle-to-career support for vulnerable children in Wilmington, pairing students and their families with coaches who focus on emotional, social, and academic well-being. Kenyetta McCurdy Byrd, COO of The WRK Group, emphasized the life-changing impact this funding will have on Wilmington youth, enabling them to achieve long-term success.
Covenant House, the largest provider of services for youth experiencing homelessness in Philadelphia, received $10,000 through WSFS CARES Foundation’s Future Leaders initiative. This funding will expand workforce development programs, equipping youth with the skills needed for stable, independent futures. Alexia Clarke, President & CEO of Covenant House Pennsylvania, expressed gratitude for this support, which will provide transformational job readiness opportunities.
CASA Youth Advocates of Delaware & Chester Counties also received $10,000 from the Future Leaders initiative. The grant will help CASA grow its infrastructure to meet rising demand for its services, which include advocating for children in the child welfare system. Leigh Anne McKelvey, CASA’s Executive Director, lauded WSFS Bank’s long-standing partnership and its role in supporting the organization’s mission to empower children in need.
Additionally, WSFS Bank awarded several smaller grants, including $5,000 each to Literacy Delaware, Chester County Food Bank, and Family Support Line, as well as $2,500 to Mother’s Home. These contributions reflect WSFS’ commitment to addressing pressing community needs and promoting stability and growth.
