WSFS Bank Appoints James Wechsler as Chief Commercial Banking Officer

WILMINGTON, DEWSFS Bank has announced the appointment of James Wechsler as Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Banking Officer, effective January 1, 2025. This strategic move is part of WSFS’ broader succession planning efforts, as Wechsler steps into the role previously held by Steve Clark. Clark will transition to a new responsibility as Senior Advisor, concentrating on business development and leadership support.

Wechsler will be joining the Executive Leadership Team and will report directly to Art Bacci, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. His new responsibilities include overseeing Commercial & Industrial Banking, Commercial Real Estate, Treasury Management, Capital Markets, and Equipment Finance.

Rodger Levenson, WSFS Chairman, President and CEO, expressed confidence in Wechsler’s capabilities: “Jim is a respected leader with diverse experience in leadership roles at WSFS. His collaborative working style and leadership skills coupled with his deep industry knowledge and ability to lead the growth of our Commercial Division make him an ideal fit for this role.” Levenson also emphasized the bank’s commitment to nurturing talent, noting that Wechsler’s promotion underscores WSFS’s focus on executive management succession planning.

Wechsler’s career with WSFS began in 2010. He has held several senior positions, including Chief Operating Officer of Commercial Banking, and has led key areas such as Corporate Development and Strategic Planning. His educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Delaware and an MBA in Finance and Strategic Management from Villanova University. Active in community service, Wechsler serves on the boards of the Bryn Mawr Hospital Foundation and the JFCS of Greater Philadelphia.

As Clark moves into his advisory role, Levenson thanked him for his 45 years of service in the industry, including 22 years with WSFS. “Steve has left an indelible mark on our Company and our region’s economy, and we are all better off because of his efforts,” Levenson remarked. He expressed optimism about Clark’s continued contribution to the company.

Wechsler, a native of the Delaware Valley, resides in Newtown Square, PA with his family. His appointment marks a significant step in WSFS Bank’s ongoing commitment to strategic leadership transitions and talent development.
