WILMINGTON, DE — A Wilmington woman has been arrested on gun and drug charges following a traffic violation, according to local police.

On the morning of February 1, members of the Safe Streets Task Force were patrolling the area of the 1500 block of West 4th Street. They reportedly observed a motor vehicle commit a traffic violation, prompting them to conduct a stop.

The driver, identified as 38-year-old Blanche Dunnum, was subsequently investigated. Police report that Dunnum was found to be in possession of a loaded 9mm handgun and 19 grams of marijuana. She was taken into custody without incident.

In addition to traffic violations, Dunnum has been charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, and possession of marijuana.

Following her arraignment in Justice of the Peace Court 20, Dunnum was released on $4,500 unsecured bail.

As always, it’s necessary to remember that an arrest or a criminal complaint is not a declaration of guilt. All suspects, including Dunnum, are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The information is subject to change as more details may emerge from the ongoing investigation.
