Wilmington Police Swiftly Apprehend Suspect in Columbia Avenue Shooting Incident

WILMINGTON, DE — The Wilmington Police Department is currently investigating a shooting incident that occurred Thursday at approximately 8 p.m. in the 1100 block of Columbia Avenue. The incident resulted in a 30-year-old woman being hospitalized with gunshot wounds, though she remains in stable condition.

A responding officer quickly identified and pursued a suspect who attempted to flee the scene on foot. The suspect was apprehended in the vicinity of Cedar and Anchorage Streets without further incident.

Detective Anthony Ford of the Criminal Investigations Division was assigned to the case. Detective Ford’s thorough investigation led to the identification of the detained individual as the suspect in the shooting incident. The suspect, 33-year-old Roderic Grady, now faces serious charges related to the incident.

Grady has been charged with Assault (First Degree), Aggravated Menacing, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, and Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited. After his arraignment in Justice of the Peace Court 11, Grady was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $85,000 cash-only bail.
