Wilmington Police Crack Down on Illegal Drug Operations; Two Men Arrested

WILMINGTON, DE — The Wilmington Police Department has made two arrests following a carefully coordinated investigation into illegal drug sales in the city. The operation was spearheaded by members of the Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division and spanned several months.

According to the criminal complaint, beginning in August, the division targeted areas suspected of being hotspots for illegal drug activity. Their efforts led them to the 1200 block of Chestnut Street. On October 26, at approximately 1:02 p.m., police conducted a motor vehicle stop in the 1700 block of North Washington Street. The action resulted in the arrest of 30-year-old Marquis Wing and 33-year-old Vernon Jackson, both taken into custody without incident.

Following their arrests, officers executed search warrants at locations in the 1200 block of Chestnut Street and the 1200 block of Read Street. These searches yielded a loaded 9mm handgun, 33.9 grams of crack cocaine, .91 grams of fentanyl, 64.8 grams of marijuana, $1,500 in cash, and various pieces of drug paraphernalia.

Marquis Wing faces serious charges, including Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver in Tier 3 Quantity, Possession of a Controlled Substance in Tier 3 Quantity, and two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver. Following his arraignment in Justice of the Peace Court 11, Wing was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $3,500 secured bail.

Vernon Jackson has been charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance. After his arraignment in Justice of the Peace Court 11, Jackson was released on $200 unsecured bail.
