WILMINGTON, DE — The Wilmington Police Department has reported the arrest of two male juveniles and the recovery of a stolen motor vehicle. The incident unfolded on January 2 around 8:35 a.m., casting a spotlight once again on issues of juvenile crime in the city.
Members of the Uniformed Services Division were dispatched to the 2300 block of North Pine Street following reports of a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival, they discovered a stolen motor vehicle in the area. Officers attempted to engage with the two occupants of the vehicle, who promptly fled on foot, sparking a brief foot chase. Both suspects, identified as 14-year-old males, were subsequently taken into custody without incident.
The first juvenile has been charged with several offenses, including receiving stolen property over $1,500, second-degree conspiracy, and resisting arrest. He was arraigned in New Castle County Family Court and released on $3,000 unsecured bail.
Similarly, the second juvenile faces charges of receiving stolen property over $1,500, second-degree conspiracy, and resisting arrest. He was also arraigned in New Castle County Family Court and released on $3,000 unsecured bail.
As the legal process moves forward, it’s important to remember that these are allegations. An arrest, a criminal complaint, or even the information provided does not constitute a declaration of guilt. Every suspect, arrestee, or defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
