Wilmington Police Arrest Two in Connection with December Burglary

Arrested

WILMINGTON, DE — Two individuals have been arrested in connection with a burglary that occurred in Wilmington last month, according to the Wilmington Police Department.

Christopher Williams, 28, and Jynease Shockley, 24, were taken into custody earlier this month following an investigation led by Detective Joran Merced of the Criminal Investigations Division.

The incident in question took place on December 20 on the 1200 block of Read Street. Uniformed Services Division officers responded to the scene at approximately 4:31 p.m. Detective Merced was assigned to the case and subsequently identified Williams and Shockley as suspects.

Williams was located and arrested without incident on January 10 on the 100 block of South Harrison Street. He has been charged with first-degree burglary and theft under $1,500. Following his arraignment in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas, he was released after posting $3,000 secured bail.

Shockley was apprehended the following day on the 200 block of South Harrison Street, also without incident. She faces the same charges as Williams: first-degree burglary and theft under $1,500. However, after her arraignment in Justice of the Peace Court 20, she was committed to the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on $7,000 secured bail.

The investigation into this case continues, and further details may emerge. It is important to note that an arrest or criminal charge does not constitute a declaration of guilt. Both Williams and Shockley, like all defendants, are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
