WILMINGTON, DE — In a significant win against illegal drug sales in Wilmington, Delaware, local police have arrested a man following an extensive investigation. The suspect was taken into custody on December 6, and officers seized over 37 pounds of marijuana along with $14,495 in cash.
The Wilmington Police Department initiated the investigation in November, focusing on suspected illegal drug activities in the 800 block of West 4th Street. As a result of their diligent efforts, members of the Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division executed a search warrant at approximately 10:09 a.m. on December 6.
During the operation, police took 32-year-old Belal Mohammad Ahmed into custody without any incidents. Along with a substantial quantity of marijuana, officers also recovered drug paraphernalia and a considerable amount of cash.
Following his arrest, Ahmed has been charged with several offenses, including possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver in Tier 3 quantity, possession of a controlled substance in Tier 3 quantity, possession of drug paraphernalia, and operating a business without a license.
After being arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11, Ahmed was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $60,200 cash-only bail.
It’s important to note that these charges are allegations. Ahmed, like all suspects, is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
