WILMINGTON, DE — In a series of events leading to an arrest, Wilmington Police have apprehended a man suspected of multiple robbery incidents. The suspect, 29-year-old Lakwang Bungy, was taken into custody following an attempted robbery on March 3.

The investigation began on February 28 when police responded to a robbery incident at approximately 7:28 p.m., in the 1200 block of North Washington Street. Then, on March 3, police were called to two separate incidents — a robbery at around 9:18 a.m., on the 1400 block of North Clayton Street and an attempted robbery at about 11:12 a.m., on the 1400 block of North Dupont Street. Detective Joran Merced of the Criminal Investigations Division was assigned to these cases.

Detective Merced identified Bungy as a suspect and obtained warrants for his arrest. Later that day, at approximately 6:47 p.m., officers responded to another attempted robbery incident in the 400 block of South Market Street. Officers recognized Bungy as the suspect from the earlier incidents and gave chase when he attempted to flee on foot. Following a brief pursuit, Bungy was apprehended without incident.

Bungy is facing multiple charges, including two counts of first-degree robbery, one count of attempted first-degree robbery, second-degree robbery, and wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and is currently held at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $191,000 cash-only bail.

As the judicial process unfolds, it’s crucial to remember that these are allegations and Bungy is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Additional information may be released as the investigation continues and more details become available.
